1.later是副词，意思是“较晚地”，常用于书面语中。2.later常与一个表示具体时间的名词连用，指从过去或将来某一时间算起的。如果单独使用，即其前不加“若干时间”，则可以用来表示“从现在算起以后”。3.later无比较级和最高级形式。

1、The government will review the situation later in the year.

政府将在今年晚些时候对形势重新加以研究。

2、The government will review the situation later in the year.

政府将在今年晚些时候重新检讨形势。

3、I'd like to come on to that question later.

我想以后再讨论那个问题。

4、Look at the time ─ it's much later than I thought.

看看时间吧，比我想象的要晚多了。
